Cyanotype Prints

Cyanotype , discovered in 1842, is a photographic printing method that results in a rich blue color. Mixing potassium ferricyanide and ferric ammonium citrate in equal parts, then covering a piece of paper in the solution makes a UV sensitive liquid. Once exposed to UV light, a transparent photo negative is left on top of the paper, leaving the image in the paper. I chose to do a portrait of myself for my final project because the best subject for my first attempt should be myself.
