I Love you Mom

Using a combination of an Egyptian winged scarab and an evil eye, I wanted to create my own good luck charm. The evil eye is known for warding off evil spirits, with it's concentric blue circles imitating an eye. The winged scarab was an amulet used by the dead as a symbol of resurrection, guiding your way into the afterlife. Using terracotta, I made the original design of the scarab and added in the wings after. normally the wings would be bird wings, but I wanted to use the wings as a place for decoration too. I inscribed in braille the words "Love You". The eye is placed in the middle, wide open to keep watch.
